In optical communication between a parent station and a child station, the wavelength of the signal laser light source high LD of the parent station generating the downstream signal light is a wavelength having the effect of Raman-amplifying the upstream optical signal propagating in an optical fiber (2). In the optical fiber (2), while the upstream optical signal transmitted from the child station to the parent station propagates in the optical fiber (2), the upstream optical signal is amplified by the downstream signal light of the signal laser light source high LD.
