Abstract The invention relates to an arrangement for the optical transmission of communication, comprising a light transmitter and a light receiver associated with the light transmitter which is preceded in the direction of transmission by a light-collecting body made from a material having a refractive index greater than 1. The light-collecting body contains a fluorescent substance and is provided with a light-outlet window. The absorption band of the fluorescent substance on the one hand at least substantailly agrees with the emission band of the light transmitter ("useful band") but, on the other hand, does not substantially overlap the emission band of the fluorescent substance. As a rule, the absorption band should not be broader than the useful band and merely in exceptional cases should the absorption band exceed by more than l0nm toward higher and/or lower frequencies. The invention is useful for signal transmission across short distances and/or in closed spaces, in particular image or stereo sound transmission.
