An optical control device has a LiNbO3 or LiTaO3 crystalline substrate having an electro-optic effect, a channel-type optical waveguide which is formed in the crystalline substrate by doping metal into first regions of a surface layer of the substrate, a first film layer which is optically-transparent and formed on the crystalline substrate, a second film layer, and electrodes formed on the optically-transparent first film layer. The portion of the surface layer of the crystalline substrate into which metal is not doped is defined as a remainder region. The second film layer is formed between the crystalline substrate and the the first film layer so as to be positioned adjacent at least a portion of the remainder region. The second film layer is made of a material that is different from that of the crystalline substrate and the first film layer.
Un instrument de contrôle optique comporte un substrat cristallin de LiNbO3 ou de LiTaO3 ayant un effet électro-optique, un guide d'ondes optiques de type canal formé dans le substrat cristallin par dopage de métal dans les premières régions de la couche de surface de celui-ci, une première couche pellicule optiquement transparente et formée sur le substrat cristallin, une seconde couche pellicule et des électrodes formées sur la première couche pellicule optiquement transparente. La partie de la couche de surface du substrat cristallin ne contenant pas de métal dopé est qualifiée de région inutilisée. La seconde couche pellicule est formée entre le substrat cristallin et la première couche pellicule de façon à être contiguë à au moins une partie de la région inutilisée. La seconde couche pellicule est composée d'une matière différente de celle du substrat cristallin et de la première couche pellicule.
