ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Power cables and earth conductors comprising optical fibers within a fluid-tight metal tube which is surrounded by helically wound elongation resistant, metal wires for preventing moisture contact with the optical fibers and damage to the optical fibers by stretching, the cables and conductors dif- fering from the prior art in that the elongation resistant wires are surrounded by electrical conductors, the elongation resis- tant wires, the tube and the conductors have metal-to-metal contact and at least the contacting surfaces of the wires, the tube and the conductors are made of electro-chemically compa- tible metals to prevent corrosion.
