An optical fiber ferrule with four optical fiber elements and an optical coupler constructed using the optical fiber ferrules are disclosed. The optical fiber ferrule for an optical coupler has a throughhole whose center line is in parallel to a reference on the ferrule, for end of optical fiber element are inserted from one end of the throughhole to the other end thereof, wherein the relation between diameter of the end-face and diameter the optical fiber element is defined by the following formula; d = (2 + 1)d1 + .delta.. In the formula: d denotes diameter of the throughhole at the center of the ferrule end-face, d1 denotes diameter of the optical fiber element, and .delta. denotes allowance. The optical coupler consists of the two optical fiber ferrules, a pair of graded index rod lenses, a thin film which partly transmits incident light and reflects the remainder, and fastening means.
