A device (12) for stripping the coating from a coated fiber. The device (12) comprises a base (14) having a longitudinal axis extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of a fiber when the fiber is positioned within the device (12). The device (12) also comprises a coated fiber retaining member (22) coupled to the base (14). The coated fiber retaining member (22) has a fiber holding portion (22) for retaining a portion of a coated fiber along the longitudinal axis. A stripping tool (18) including at least two stripping blades is rotatably mounted to the base (14). One of the blades of the stripping tool (18) has a beveled surface positioned at a 45 degree angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the base (14). The angle of the stripping tool (18), coupled with the bevel of the stripping blade ensures that the coating is pulled along the axis of the fiber, which keeps the fiber from bending or scratching. The beveled surface faces the coated fiber retaining member. A heating element (25) is disposed on the side of the stripping blades opposite from the coated fiber retaining member (22) for heating the fiber without contacting it.
Cette invention concerne un dispositif (12) permettant d'éliminer le revêtement d'une fibre gainée. Le dispositif (12) comprend une base (14) comportant un axe longitudinal qui s'étend parallèlement à l'axe longitudinal d'une fibre lorsque cette dernière est placée à l'intérieur du dispositif (12). Le dispositif (12) comprend également un élément (22) de retenue pour fibre gainée qui est relié à la base (14). L'élément (22) de retenue pour fibre gainée comporte une partie (22) de retenue pour la fibre destinée à retenir une partie d'une fibre gainée le long de l'axe longitudinal. Un outil dénudeur (18) comprenant au moins deux lames est monté rotatif sur la base (14). Une des lames de l'outil dénudeur (18) comporte une surface biseautée située à un angle de 45· par rapport à l'axe longitudinal de la base (14). L'angle de l'outil dénudeur (18) combiné au biseau de la lame dénudeuse assure que le revêtement est tiré le long de l'axe de la fibre, ceci empêchant ladite fibre de se courber ou d'être éraflée. La surface biseautée est située en face de l'élément de retenue pour fibre gainée. Un élément chauffant (25) est placé sur le côté des lames dénudeuses situées à l'opposé de l'élément (22) de retenue pour fibre gainée afin de chauffer la fibre sans se trouver directement en contact avec cette dernière.
