Abstract of the Disclosure A magnetically operated fiber optic switch for making and breaking an optical path is known but it cannot switch from one optical path to another, as can the present invention. Disclosed is an optical switch having, for example, a pair of fixed optical fibers and a movable optical fiber. An elastic body of magnetic material guides the free end of the movable optical fiber, under the influence of an externally applied magnetic field, between ends of the fixed fibers to switch the optical path from one to the other of the fixed optical fibers.
