Abstract of the Disclosure A positioning ferrule in which the position of an optical fibres bundle is defined relatively to a cylindrical reference surface of revolution which forms part of the outer periphery of the ferrule. Centring of the bundle relative to the reference surface and its arrangement in the form of a compact hexagonal assemblage are obtained by compressing a disc of deformable material disposed in a cavity concentric with the reference surface and bored along the axis of that surface to allow the bundle to pass through. A direction characteristic of the compact assemblage may be marked on the terminal.
