9166 ABSTRACT An adaptor comprises a ferrule having a cylindrical front end portion which is radially resiliently compressible and formed with a concentric bore communicating axially with a cavity formed in a rear end of the ferrule, a predetermined length of optical fibre bonded in the bore with a first optical face substantially flush with the front end and the second optical face protruding into the cavity, an optoelectronic transducer potted in the cavity in operative alignment with the second optical face.
