ABSTRACT An optical fibre connector assembly includes a housing having a passageway in which a plastics ferrule receiving the bundle of fibres is releasably retained by a threaded cap. An O ring is inserted between the ferrule and cap or housing to permit axial float of the fibres and to provide a preloading effect. The housing may have a flared mouth to receive the ferrule as a force fit. A method of terminating the fibre bundle and a kit for which the assembly can be erected is also disclosed.
