OPTICAL FIBRE CABLE Abstract of the Disclosure An optical fibre cable of optical fibres with a surrounding buffer tube in which a reinforcement is provided for the buffer tube to accommodate axial loads. The reinforcement has a high modulus of elasticity and is in the form of glass fibres or monofilaments extending solely in the axial direction of the buffer tube and held in a taut condition in a normal unstressed condition of the cable. The reinforcement is secured to the outside of the buffer tube by adhesive and is preferably attached to a plastics tape which is wrapped around the tube. - i -
