9220 ABSTRACT A connector for coupling an optical fibre (27) to an optoelectric device (28) comprising a one piece body (10) including a sleeve portion (11) for receiving, in optical alignment, a terminated optical fibre (56) and an optoelectric device (28) in respective opposite ends and a foot portion (14 or 15) adapted for attachment to a circuit board (53), with the sleeve portion (11) extending generally parallel to the circuit board (53); a retention plate (32) being attachable to an end of the body (10) in an axial push fit to retain the optoelectric device (28) in the sleeve (11). The retention plate (32) may have resilient pins (34, 35) receivable in apertures (20, 21 in the body (10) which may be metal and provided with a transverse flange (13) defining slots (18, 19) fox locating a shielding can covering the one end.
