Apparatus and a method for producing articles in which ends of optical filaments are inserted in a fabric; trailing lengths of filament are drawn from the inserted ends, and are captive in a terminal block; many inserted ends form one or more display patterns, and all the trailing lengths of filament of one (each) pattern are grouped by retention at a common selected portion of the terminal block.
