ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A touch-operated display for a CRT faceplate includes a plurality of optical gates for energizing light emitting diodes in response to generation of the CRT raster thus eliminating the need for external switching of the beam generating means to produce the grid of crossing light paths. A frame is disclosed for mounting the light sources, detectors and common optical gates - all of which take the form of silicon chips.
