-7- ABSTRACT A method of noncontact measurement of the profile of a work piece is provided. The work piece is illuminated with a sinusoidal color fringe pattern which is then viewed with a color television camera. The three electrical signals produced are compared and processed to produce an electrical signal representative of the contour of the work piece. The resultant signal may be displayed or compared with the desired contour.
