An image projecting apparatus is provided to project a real image of an object to be displayed while obscuring the object from view by an observer located exteriorly of the image projecting apparatus. The apparatus includes a housing (12) having an interior and a view area (14) for the real image. First and second reflective surfaces (40, 50), such as mirrors, are disposed in the housing. The first reflective surface (40) must be concave of a variety of geometric shapes. The second reflective surface (50) may be concave or, alternatively, planar. A masking member is interposed between the object and the view area. The second reflective surface can define the masking member. The first and second reflective surfaces are arranged at an acute angle to each other.

L'invention concerne un appareil de projection d'images, destiné à projeter une image réelle d'un objet destiné à être affiché, et à masquer cet objet à l'aide d'un dispositif d'observation situé à l'extérieur du dispositif de projection d'images. Cet appareil comprend un boîtier présentant un intérieur et une zone de visualisation pour l'image réelle, une première et une seconde surfaces réfléchissantes, par exemple des miroirs, étant par ailleurs disposées dans ce boîtier. La première surface réfléchissante peut se présenter sous différentes formes géométriques concaves, la seconde surface réfléchissante pouvant être soit concave soit plate. Un élément de masquage est interposé entre ledit objet et ladite zone de visualisation, la seconde surface réfléchissante pouvant constituer cet élément de masquage. Ces première et seconde surfaces de masquage sont placées l'une par rapport à l'autre selon un angle aigu.
