An optical isolator comprising an optical isolator unit having a structure depending on a plane of polarization of incident light, a first optical system for splitting the incident light into two polarized components for incidence on the optical isolator unit, and a second optical system for combining the two polarized components emerging from the optical isolator unit. The optical isolator can thus manifest an excellent effect of isolation without considering the plane of polarization of the incident light.

L'invention est un isolateur optique comportant un module isolant ayant une structure qui dépend du plan de polarisation de la lumière incidente, un premier système optique servant à diviser la lumière incidente en deux composantes polarisées en vue de leur transmission au module isolant, et un second système optique servant à combiner les deux composantes polarisées émergeant du module isolant. L'isolateur optique procure donc un excellent isolement sans avoir à tenir compte du plan de polarisation de la lumière incidente.
