ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An optical multiple fiber comprising a multiplicity of optical fibers which are fused together with each other, each optical fiber comprising a core made of pure silica glass and a cladding layer disposed on the core and made of a dopant-containing silica glass, characterized in that the thickness of the cladding layer satisfies the following equation (I): 2 D1 ? T1 ? 1.0 µm. (I) wherein T1 is the thickness of the cladding layer in µm. and D1 is the outer diameter of the core in µm., in order to improve the image-transmitting capacity of the multiple fiber, including the sharpness and brightness of transmitted image.
