ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The specification describes a scanning system in which a scene is scanned in an orthogonal pattern including linear scanning traces in one of the orthogonal directions which appear in succession on an imaging means and are scanned in the other orthogonal direction by a circular array of concave reflectors on a plane surface of a rotating scanning disc. The imaging means is positioned and the concave reflectors are configured so that radiation reflected from the strip mirror is focussed by the concave reflectors onto radiation detection means.
