An optical scanner for use in conjunction with an infrared spectrometer is disclosed. The optical scanner translates a beam of radiation to a stationary spot on a traveling sheet of material so that ample integration time within the spectrometer is achieved. The beam path impinges on the traveling web and the radiation is reflected off the traveling web back through the optical scanner and recombined at an interferometer. The beam of radiation is kept stationary with respect to both the traveling sheet and the carriage which houses the spectrometer.

L'invention concerne un scanner optique pour une utilisation conjointement à un spectromètre infrarouge. Le scanner optique transforme un faisceau de rayonnement vers un point immobile sur une feuille circulante de matériau de sorte qu'un temps d'intégration amplement suffisant dans le spectromètre est obtenu. Le chemin de faisceau est incident sur la bande circulante et le rayonnement est renvoyé par réflexion sur la bande circulante à travers le scanner optique et recombiné au niveau d'un interféromètre. Le faisceau de rayonnement est gardé immobile par rapport à la fois à la feuille circulante et au chariot qui loge le spectromètre.
