Abstract: An optical sensor consists of an optical waveguide com- prising an optical waveguide member of a transparent elastomer surrounded by cladding and through which light can be propa- gated. The amount of propagated light can be changed according by elastic deformation of the waveguide member. The device has the advantage over electrical sensors that it is not affected by electric and/or magnetic fields.
