ABSTRACT OPTICAL SENSOR A direction-of-arrival optical sensor comprises a cube 4 having its four upstanding surfaces 6 mirrored as reflectors. The cube rests on a semiconductive substrate 2 having four square photodetectors 8 extending from the base edge of each mirrored surface 6. The ratio of the amount of light falling on each of the two opposed pairs of photodetectors from a light source (the ratio of the photocurrents) is measured. This measurement can be used to compute the direction of the light source with respect to the sensor.
