An optical switch is provided for use in optical fiber communication systems to provide selective coupling of optical transmission between optical fiber waveguides; selective coupling of optical transmission occurs wherein the optical fiber waveguide end terminals coupled to the switch are juxtaposed in fixed positions, remaining immobile. Lensed optical fiber ends are placed around a small rotatable mirror. Depending upon the rotated position of the rotatable mirror located centrally within the switch, an input optical signal is reflected by the mirror to one of a plurality of output receiving fibers positioned around and facing toward the mirror.
