An apparatus and method is provided for injection molding an ophthalmic lens mold having an optical surface and a non-optical surface opposite the optical surface. The apparatus includes a non-optical tool assembly for forming the non-optical surface of the ophthalmic lens mold and an optical tool assembly in opposed relation to the non-optical tool assembly that together therewith forms a mold cavity for forming the ophthalmic lens mold. The assembly includes a cavity ring removably secured to a mold plate of an injection molding apparatus and an optical tool insert having an optical molding surface thereon for forming the optical surface of the ophthalmic lens mold. The optical tool insert is removably secured to the cavity ring.

Appareil et procédé destinés au moulage par injection d'un moule de lentille ophtalmologique possédant une surface optique et une surface non optique, opposée à la surface optique. L'appareil comprend un ensemble d'instrument non optique destiné à former la surface non optique du moule de lentille ophtalmologique et un ensemble d'instrument optique opposé par rapport à l'ensemble d'instrument non optique qui, conjointement avec ce dernier, forme une cavité de moule pour former le moule de lentille ophtalmologique. L'ensemble comprend un anneau de cavité solidarisé de façon amovible à une plaque de moule d'un appareil de moulage par injection et un insert d'instrument optique possédant une surface de moulage optique destinée à la formation de la surface optique du moule de lentille ophtalmologique.
