Abstract of the Disclosure An optical transducer comprises a semiconductor laser and two reflecting surfaces optically aligned with the laser, the two reflecting surfaces spaced apart a predetermined distance, which is variable. By varying the distance between the reflecting surfaces, modulation of the laser is obtained. Such a transducer can be used in a telephone set as a transmitter, as a seismometer, a security monitor and other instruments. - i -
