An optical transmission network with protection configuration comprises an operational connection (WF) for signals having a high priority (trH) and a protection connection (PF) for the transmission of high-priority signals (trH) in the event of an error condition of the operational connection (WF). In the protection connection (PF), switching elements (S1, S2) are located having therebetween a section (PF1) over which, in the event of undisturbed operation, a signal of low priority (trL) is conducted. The switching means are controlled by detection means (M1/C1, M2/C2). In the event of an error condition, the high-priority signal on the protection connection is detected, and the switching means are switched in such a manner that a low-priority signal transmission is no longer possible. The low- and high-priority signals may be WDM signals, and the section may be part of an optical annular network.

L'invention concerne un réseau de transmission optique doté d'une configuration de protection et comprenant une connexion opérationnelle (WF) pour les signaux haute priorité (tr¿H?) et une connexion de protection (PF) pour la transmission de signaux haute priorité (tr¿H?) en cas d'erreur dans la connexion opérationnelle (WF). La connexion de protection (PF) comprend des éléments de commutation (S¿1?, S¿2?) comportant entre eux une section (PF¿1?) dans laquelle passe un signal de faible priorité (tr¿L?) en cas de fonctionnement non perturbé. Les éléments de commutation sont commandés par un dispositif de détection (M¿1?/C¿1?, M¿2?/C¿2?). En cas d'erreur, le signal haute priorité dans la connexion de protection est détecté et les éléments de commutation sont commutés de telle sorte qu'une transmission de signal de faible priorité ne soit plus possible. Les signaux de faible et de haute priorité peuvent être des signaux de multiplexage en longueur d'onde et la section peut faire partie d'un réseau annulaire optique.
