ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An optical waveguide connector assembly comprises a tubular body, an alignment ferrule mounted on a forward end portion of the body, an internal ferrule assembled within the body, an optical cable having an optical waveguide projecting through a forward end of the internal ferrule. The internal ferrule and the waveguide are inserted into the body with the waveguide pro- jecting through the body and the alignment ferrule. The forward end of the inner ferrule is tapered and wedges sealably against internal tapered walls of the body and seals against migration of adhesive material along the length of the waveguide. The waveguide forward end is made flush with a forward end of the alignment ferrule.
