ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a light transmission system including transmitting and receiving end stations and a light pulse transmission path connected between the end stations for conducting light pulses while subjecting them to attenuation and distortion, at least one light signal regenerator connected in the path and composed of a light-to-electrical signal converter connected for converting light pulses being conducted over the path into corresponding bipolar electrical pulses, a commercially available PCM regenerator connected to the converter for regenerating the bipolar electrical pulses, and an electrical signal-to-light converter connected to the regenerator for converting the regenerated pulses into light pulses and for introducing those light pulses into the path.
