Optically active alcohols of formulae (1) and (2) which are useful as intermediates for the synthesis of (RRR)-optical isomers of 1,4-benzodioxin-2-carboxylic acid derivatives which are useful as a prophylactic and therapeutic agent for diabetes, hyperglycemia and the like. (see formula 1 and 2) A process for preparing (RRR)-optical isomers of 1,4-benzodioxin-2-carboxylic acid derivatives efficiently in high yield, starting from these optically active alcohols and through the compounds of formulae (5) and (7). (see formula 5) (see formula 7) wherein R is (R)-1-phenylethylamino or (S)-1--phenylethylamino, Y is halogen atom, (C1-C4)alkylsulfonyl or arylsulfonyl, R2 and R3 each represent a substituent such as hydrogen, alkyl or the like, or R2 and R3 together form -OCH2O-.
La présente invention concerne des alcools optiquement actifs représentés par les formules générales (I, II) convenant comme intermédiaire pour la synthèse d'isomères (RRR)-optiques de dérivés d'acide 1,4-benzooxine-2-carboxylique. Ces dérivés conviennent comme médicaments pour le traitement et la prévention notamment du diabète et de l'obésité. L'invention concerne également un procédé permettant une production de bonne qualité d'isomères (RRR)-optiques de dérivés d'acide 1,4-benzooxine-2-carboxylique à partir des alcools optiquement actifs précédemment mentionnés en passant par les composés des formules générales (V, VII). Dans ces formules, R est (R)-1-phényléthylamino ou (S)-1-phényléthylamino, Y est halogène, C1-4 alkylsulfonyle or arylsulfonyle, et R2 et R3 sont chacun hydrogène d'un substituant tel qu'alkyle, R2 et R3 pouvant aussi former ensemble un groupe -OCH2O-.
