ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An optically active naphthylethanol compound, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof, useful in the pharmacological field for the treatment, prevention and cure of mental symptoms associated with cerebral vascular disorders, and defined by the following formula is disclosed: Image Particularly useful are two derivatives of the above compound, namely (S)-(+)-2-[4-(p-fluorobenzoyl)-1- piperidyl]-l-naphthylethanol and (R)-(-)-2-[4-(p- fluorobenzoyl)-l-piperidyl]-l-naphthylethanol.
