ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The present invention relates to S-configurated phenylpropane derivatives of the formula Image where R1 is alkyl, aryl or alkoxy, R2 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or alkoxy, and R3 is carboxyl or esterified carboxyl, acetalixed formyl, hydroxymethyl or esterified hydroxymethyl. This invention is also concerned with their process of preparation which comprises hydrogenating a compoun of the formula III Image (III) where R1 and R2 have the same meanings as above and R4 is CHO or has the same meanings as R3, with aerobic or facultatively aerobic micro-organisms, then obtaining through fermentation the desired compounds which are isolated. These compounds have good fungicidal properties.
