Optically active poly(aryl)ether polymers prepared from monomers containing optically pure spirobiindane and/or indane moieties are disclosed. The chiral poly(aryl)ether polymers are of high molecular weight and exhibit high optical rotations. In addition, the polyethers are thermally stable at high temperatures and exhibit excellent hydrolytic resistance making them useufl in high temperature processing applications, in the fabrication of optoelectronics devices, and as polarizing coatings and filters.
L'invention concerne des polymères de poly(aryl)éther optiquement actifs, préparés à partir de monomères contenant des fractions spirobiindane et/ou indane, optiquement pures. Ces polymères chiraux de poly(aryl)éther possèdent un poids moléculaire élevé et démontrent des rotations optiques importantes. En outre, ces polyéthers sont stables à la chaleur, à températures élevées, et possèdent une excellente résistance à l'hydrolyse, ce qui les rend utiles dans des applications de traitement à températures élevées, dans la fabrication de dispositifs optoélectroniques, et en tant que des revêtements et filtres de polarisation.
