Optically active .beta. -type tris-(2,3-epoxypropyl)- isocyanurate is obtained by a method of reacting isocyanuric acid with an optically active epihalohydrin, or a method of optically resolving a racemic modification of tris-(2,3-epoxypropyl)-isocyanurate by using an amylose or cellulose derivative. It is a method for producing a high melting point type tris-(2,3- epoxypropyl)-isocyanurate obtained by mixing two enantiomers of optically active .beta. -type tris-(2,3- epoxypropyl)-isocyanurate.

On obtient un tris-(2,3-époxypropyl)-isocyanurate de type beta optiquement actif par un procédé consistant à faire réagir de l'acide isocyanurique avec une épiholohydrine optiquement active, ou par un procédé consistant à dédoubler optiquement un racémique de tris-(2,3-époxypropyl)-isocyanurate en utilisant de l'amylose ou un dérivé de la cellulose. On obtient un tris-(2,3-époxypropyl)-isocyanurate de type beta de haute pureté et à point de fusion élevé en mélangeant deux énantiomères de ce tris-(2,3-époxypropyl)-isocyanurate de type beta optiquement actif selon un rapport molaire de 1:1.
