OPTICALLY ANISOTROPIC MELT FORMING AROMATIC COPOLYESTERS BASED ON t-BUTYLHYDROQUINONE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel copolyesters derived from (a) aromatic diols, (b) dicarboxylic acids and (c) aromatic hydroxy carboxylix acids, in which t-butylhydroquinone constitutes 55 to 95 mole % of the diol component (a) are disclosed, These copolyesters are anisotropic and fabricable in the melt. They generally can be processed using conventional thermoplastic shaping techniques at temperatures below 350°C into moldings, fibers and films which have outstanding mechanical properties.
