OPTIMIZED FRACTIONAL FREQUENCY SYNTHESIZER Abstract A fraction-N frequency synthesizer applies a phase locked loop to stablize a voltage controlled oscillator's output. The basic value of the frequency synthesized is provided by the feedback divided-by-N counter and the remaining resolution is provided by a fractional pulse delete circuit applying of a rate multiplier. The jitter generated due to the deleted pulse is compensated by a synchronous anti-step network.
