A solution for supporting relocation of an IP session of a mobile node during a network layer handover in a mobile communication system. In the method, from the application context information on the mobile node is detected a first set of capabilities of a network node that that facilitate maintaining the IP session. This first set of capabilities is queried from one or more potential next network node. Applicability of the potential next network node to the relocation of the IP session is determined by the capability information on the first set of capabilities.
L'invention concerne une solution pour supporter la translation d'une session IP d'un noeud mobile lors d'un transfert de couche réseau dans un système de communication mobile. Le procédé selon l'invention consiste à détecter, à partir des informations contextuelles d'application relatives audit noeud mobile, un premier ensemble de possibilités d'un noeud réseau qui facilitent le maintien de la session IP. Ce premier ensemble de possibilités est interrogé à partir d'un ou de plusieurs noeuds de réseau suivants potentiels. L'applicabilité du noeud de réseau suivant potentiel à la translation d'un session IP est déterminée par les informations de possibilité concernant le premier ensemble de possibilités.
