ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Optoelectronic high precision dimension and displacement measuring device comprising a body, a moving sensor stem whose displacements are to be measured, the stem sliding in the body by means of two guides incorpo- rated in the latter, a contact tip at the end of the stem, a light source and two adjacent photoreceivers symmetrically positionned on either side of the stem axis, a cover carried by the moving stem situated between the source and the photoreceivers and including transparent parts in the form of rectangular windows having aligned sides and joined by a common vertex, where movement of the cover has the effect of increasing and reducing respectively by the same amount the sensitive surfaces exposed to the light source of the two photoreceivers. It is characterized in that the common vertex is substantially symmetrical with the contact tip at the stem end relative to the center point between the two guides, whence the result that the stem's mechanical play in its guides incurs only zero or negligible variation in the difference of illumination of the photoreceivers.
