The invention provides methods, oral care products and kits for treating mouth tissues of an animal. In particular, the invention provides methods, oral care products and kits which use or comprise a non-peptide polyamine chelating agent, most preferably trientine, or a physiologically-acceptable salt thereof, which can inhibit the release of pro- inflammatory cytokines, particularly interleukin 8, from cells located in tissues of the mouth and can reduce the damage done by reactive oxygen species (ROS) to such tissues.

L'invention concerne des méthodes, des produits et des kits de soins buccaux servant à traiter les tissus buccaux d'un animal. L'invention concerne en particulier des méthodes, des produits et des kits de soins buccaux utilisant ou contenant un agent chélateur polyamine non peptidique, de préférence de la trientine, ou un sel physiologiquement acceptable de celui-ci, pouvant inhiber la libération de cytokines proinflammatoires, en particulier de l'interleukine 8, à partir de cellules contenues dans des tissus buccaux, et pouvant réduire les dommages causés par des espèces oxygénées radicalaires (ROS) auxdits tissus.
