An invention oral care product contains a water-soluble zinc-polyamine complex which slow- releases bioavailable zinc ions in an oral cavity environment. The zinc-polyamine complex is in a form that decreases the astringency and metallic taste which is characteristic of zinc ions in an oral cavity.
