An oral composition and method for use thereof, comprising in an orally acceptable vehicle, an effective antiplaque amount of a noncationic antibacterial agent, and an anionic copolymer formed from monomers of which about 40 to about 90 % by weight are hydrophilic type capable of attachment to oral surfaces and about 10 to about 60 % by weight are of a hydrophobic type; such oral composition being effective in increasing the uptake of the antibacterial compound to dental tissue so as to enhance the therapeutic efficacy of the administered antibacterial compound.

L'invention concerne une composition orale et un procédé d'utilisation de celle-ci. La composition comporte, dans un excipient acceptable par voie orale, une quantité d'un agent antibactérien non cationique efficace contre la plaque dentaire, et un copolymère anionique formé à partir de monomères, dont environ 40 à 90 % environ en poids, de type hydrophile, sont susceptibles de se fixer à des surfaces orales, et environ 10 à 60 % environ en poids sont de type hydrophobe; une telle composition orale est efficace en vue d'augmenter la fixation du composé antibactérien au tissu dentaire afin d'améliorer l'efficacité thérapeutique du composé antibactérien administré.
