Abstract of the Disclosure A hyperosmotic oral veterinary composition in liquid form that provides easily absorbed and metabolized energy substrates comprising 70 to 90 percent of an actively absorbed monosaccharide, 1 to 7.5 percent of an actively absorbed naturally occurring amino acid, 0.1 to 5 percent of citric acid, 4 to 12 percent of a non-toxic alkali metal salt of acetic acid which, when diluted with water for administration and is present in a concentration of 30-90 grams per liter useful for the treatment of diarrhea in animals such as calves.
