2111700 9222262 PCTABS00018 An oral hygiene device (10) employs a hollow plastic tube (12) sealed at both ends. At least one area (14) along the length of the tube is weakened and has its diameter in the weakened area reduced, but not reduced to zero diameter. A length of fiber (16), such as conventional dental floss is stored within the length of the tube comprising the housing (12) and has each of the free ends (18, 20) secured to a bulk of rigid material (22) whose size does not permit the fibrous material from being able to escape the narrow diameter area (14). In use, a user bends the unbroken tubing housing (12) to a point that the tubing breaks into at least two pieces (12a, 12b), allowing the fibrous flossing material (16) to be positioned intermediate the separated portions of the tubing, which are now free to act as handles. After use, the fibrous material (16) and the two handles (12a, 12b) may be discarded.
