ABSTRACT Apparatus and method for heat-sealing a moving tubular liner or the like wherein the area of the liner to be sealed is repeatedly contacted by an opposing pair of elongated heat-sealing bars mounted for movement in unison in orbital paths relative to each other and to the liner passing therebetween. The liner is passed in a straight line path and the repeated contact of the opposed sealing bars incrementally forms a continuous seal in the liner. Through the portion of each orbital cycle of the bars where they are in contact with the liner, they have the same lineal rate of speed as the liner. The intermittent contact enables heat-sealing of materials which would be damaged by the continuous contact operation of conventional heat-sealing equipment.
