ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Ore Sorting Apparatus An apparatus for ore sorting includes a neutron irradiator, and a detector assembly for detecting gamma radiation emitted by irradiated lumps of the ore. The irradiated lumps after discharge from the irradiator, are divided into two channels by at least one bifurcating device held above a relatively high speed conveyor transporting the lumps. Each channel is subsequently divided into three streams by diverting selected lumps from the channel as the lumps are projected from the end of the high speed conveyor. The diverted lumps in each stream are allowed to fall on to a relatively low speed conveyor which then presents the lumps to the detector assembly.
