An exsanguinous metabolic support system for maintaining an organ (40) or tissue at a near normal metabolic rate is disclosed. The system employs an organ chamber (32) comprising a container (33) and a support member (36) adapted to inhibit movement of the organ (40) within the container (33) during perfusion and/or transport. The organ chamber (32) additionally comprises a conduit (43) for receiving venous outflow of perfusion solution and preventing its contact with the outer surfaces of the organ (40). A conduit (47) for receiving organ product enables the collection of organ product from a functional organ (40) during perfusion. Use of the organ chamber (32) supports de novo or continued synthesis of constituents necessary for long-term maintenance of organs for transplantation, for resuscitation and active repair of organs having sustained warm ischemic damage, and for transportation of isolated organs is also disclosed.
L'invention concerne un système de support métabolique exsanguin permettant de maintenir un organe (40) ou un tissu à un rythme métabolique sensiblement normal. Ce système comprend un compartiment pour organe (32) renfermant un récipient (33) et un élément de support (36) conçu pour empêcher tout mouvement de l'organe (40) dans le récipient (33) lors d'une perfusion et/ou d'un transport. Le compartiment pour organe (32) comprend également un conduit (43) destiné à recevoir le débit veineux sortant d'une solution de perfusion et à empêcher tout contact de cette dernière avec les surfaces externes de l'organe (40). Un conduit (47) destiné à recevoir le produit organique permet de récupérer le produit organique d'un organe fonctionnel (40) lors d'une perfusion. L'invention concerne également l'utilisation de ce compartiment pour organe (32) pour une synthèse de novo ou continue des constituants nécessaires à un entretien à long terme des organes, pour la transplantation, la réanimation et la réparation active d'organes ayant subi des lésions ischémiques chaudes durables, et pour le transport d'organes isolés.
