ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Adherent organic coatings are applied under vacuum to a metallic substrate which has been coated with vacuum vapor deposited layers of zinc and a barrier material of a metal, alloy, or inorganic compound. The organic coatings may subsequently be polymerized in place by subjecting the coatings to radiation. The product of the process has superior corrosion resistance. -1-
