The invention describes novel organic nitric oxide donor salts of a antimicrobial . compounds, and novel compositions and kits comprising at least one organic nitric oxide donor salt of an antimicrobial compound, and, optionally, at least one nitric oxide enhancing compound and/or at least one therapeutic agent. The invention also provides methods for (a) treating bacterial infections; (b) treating viral infections; (c) treating fungal infections; and (d) treating lesions. In one embodiment the antimicrobial compounds of the invention are aztreonam, ciprofloxacin, doripenam, duramycin and tobramycin. The organic nitric oxide donors that form salts are preferably organic nitrates, organic nitrites, nitrosothiols, thionitrites and heterocyclic nitric oxide donors. The heterocyclic nitric oxide donors are preferably furoxans, sydnonimines, oxatriazole-5-ones and/or oxatriazole-5- imines. The methods of the invention are preferably for the treatment of bacterial infections associated with pulmonary diseases such as cystic fibrosis and for treating Bacillus anthracis infections.

La présente invention concerne des sels donneurs d~oxyde nitrique organique atypique de composés antimicrobiens et des compositions et kits atypiques comprenant au moins un sel donneur d~oxyde nitrique organique de composés antimicrobiens et, en option, au moins un composé favorisant l~oxyde nitrique et/ou au moins un agent thérapeutique. L~invention propose aussi des procédés (a) de traitement d~infections bactériennes, (b) de traitement d~infections virales, (c) de traitement d~infections fongiques et (d) de traitement de lésions. Dans un mode de réalisation, les composés antimicrobiens de l~invention sont l~aztréonam, la ciprofloxacine, le doripénam, la duramycine et la trobramycine. Les donneurs d~oxyde nitrique organique qui forment les sels sont de préférence des nitrates et des dérivés nitrés organiques, des nitrosothiols, des dérivés thionitrés et des donneurs d~oxyde nitrique hétérocycliques. Les donneurs d~oxyde nitrique hétérocycliques sont de préférence des furoxanes, des sydnonimines, des oxatriazole-5-ones et/ou des oxatriazole-5-imines. Les procédés de l~invention sont destinés de préférence au traitement d~infections bactériennes associées aux maladies pulmonaires telles qu~une fibrose kystique et au traitement d~infections par le Bacillus anthracis.
