An organic solvent-based printing ink composition which comprises a cationic dyestuff of the indole class, an organic solvent, an organic acid which preferably is a resin acid, soluble in the organic solvent, and optionally an organic pigment. The cationic dyestuff is formed (in situ) from its carbinol precursor. The compositions show for example high color strength and excellent rheological properties and can be used in publication or packaging gravure flexographic, lithographic or letterpress printing processes.

L'invention concerne une composition d'encre d'impression organique comprenant un colorant cationique de la classe indole, un solvant organique, un acide organique, de préférence un acide résinique soluble dans le solvant organique, et éventuellement, un pigment organique. Le colorant cationique est formé (in situ) à partir de son précurseur carbinol. Les compositions décrites dans cette invention présentent, par exemple, une intensité de la couleur élevée et d'excellentes propriétés rhéologiques, et elles peuvent être utilisées pour des applications typographiques, lithographiques ou flexographiques pour la gravure d'emballage ou de publication.
