ORGANIC SOLVENT SOLUBLE POLYVALENT METAL ALKOXY ALKOXIDES ABSTRACT The present invention provides organic solvent soluble alkoxides of magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, scandium, yttrium and lanthanum which are prepared by the reaction of these element with alkoxy alcohols. More specifically, the present invention provides alkoxy alkoxides represented by the following formulas: (a) (Z-CH2)n-O)-X-(O-(CH2)m-OR2) wherein X is Mg, Ca, strontium or barium; wherein n and m are the same or different and are each selected from positive integers from 1 to 12; Z is (R1O)- or (R1)-, and R1 and R2 are the same or different hydrocarbyl radicals of from 1 to 20 carbon atoms; (b) Image wherein M3 is a metal selected from scandium, yttrium, and lanthanum; n, m, and p are the same or different and are each selected from positive integers from 1 to 12; z is (R1O)- or (R1)-, and R1 and R2 are the same or different hydrocarbyl radicals of from 1 to 20 carbon atoms.
