An organomineral decontamination gel useful for decontaminating surfaces, particularly metal surfaces, is disclosed. The organomineral gel consists of a colloidal solution including a combination of an inorganic viscosifier and an organic viscosifier (coviscosifier) selected from water-soluble organic polymers and surfactants. The use of an organic viscosifier substantially improves, inter alia, the flow properties of the gels and substantially reduces the amount of mineral filler required, which leads to a reduced amount of solid waste. A method for decontaminating metal surfaces by applying said organomineral gel on the surface to be decontaminated, leaving the gel thereon, and removing said gel, particularly by rinsing, is also disclosed.

La présente invention a pour objet un gel organominéral de décontamination utilisable pour la décontamination de surfaces, en particulier de surfaces métalliques. Le gel organominéral selon l'invention est constitué par une solution colloïdale comprenant la combinaison d'un agent viscosant minéral et d'un agent viscosant organique (coviscosant) choisi parmi les polymères organiques hydrosolubles et les surfactants. La présence d'un agent viscosant organique améliore entre autre fortement les propriétés rhéologiques des gels et en diminue de manière importante la charge minérale, ce qui génère une quantité réduite de déchets solides. L'invention a également trait à un procédé de décontamination d'une surface métallique par application du gel organominéral sur la surface à décontaminer, maintien de ce gel sur la surface et élimination du gel de la surface notamment par rinçage.
